Bellona Europa submitted its response to the European Commission’s call for evidence on the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) 2021-2027, emphasising the importance of key infrastructure projects for achieving the EU’s climate goals. Interconnectors, which link energy grids across Member States, are vital for ensuring cross-border exchange of renewable energy and grid stability. Expanding interconnector infrastructure is essential to achieve EU’s decarbonisation targets.
Moreover, Bellona underlines the importance of strategic investments in hydrogen infrastructure, focusing on low-carbon hydrogen corridors. Bellona also highlights CEF’s support in developing CO₂ transport and storage networks for Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS), which are crucial for industrial decarbonisation. These projects are essential for the EU’s 2040 and 2050 climate targets and for fostering a market-driven approach to reducing carbon emissions across Europe.
