According to chief of Surgut department on Nature Protection Management, oil appeared on the Pochekuyka river and can pollute the Ob river, Interfax reported. According to inter-regional environmental prosecutor’s office, the preliminary reason of the accident is corrosion of the oil pipeline. “We haven’t investigated any violations in the pipeline operation yet. 10 tons of oil leaked in the result of the accident and one third of oil leakage floated into the river” said a source in the prosecutor’s office.
Liquidation works are being implemented now. Workers established booms and bail out oil. Special commission will estimate environmental threat.
