200 Megawatt wind park planned for Murmansk Region

Publish date: September 28, 2008

Murmansk Governor Yury Yevdokimov went early last week for talks with the Dutch corporation Windlife Energy to discuss the construction of a 200 megawatt wind park in the Kola Peninsula region, oilru.com reported.

Yevdokimov met in Amsterdam with Windlife Energy executives, as well as representatives of other companies that specialise in harnessing wind energy, long considered by environmentalists as an untapped resource in the Murmansk Region.
The discussion was wide ranging, taking into consideration whether the land for the wind park would be rented to how to attract foreign investment to the project. Yevdokimov also held meetings at the city administration of Groningen, a sister city of Murmansk.

Yevdokimov held further talks at the Hague with the Dutch Minister of Foreign Trade, Frank Heemskerk, visited a Dutch wind park, and went to a factory where parts for wind installations are made.

Polish EU Presidency: What does it mean for climate action?

While the Polish Presidency presents an opportunity to address critical challenges, its current priorities fall short of aligning European competitiveness and security with the urgent need for climate action. Bellona’s Roadmap for 2024-2029 calls on the EU to implement ambitious and science-based climate goals to achieve climate neutrality and strengthen EU security. By focusing on industrial decarbonisation, renewable energy integration, transparent climate policy, and green public procurement, the Presidency can lead the EU towards a resilient, competitive, and climate-neutral future. As such, Bellona calls on Poland to implement more concrete and ambitious climate policies and well-functioning markets for a net-zero world.
