A guide for civil society input
The regulatory gap in the EU policy framework for Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) will soon be closing as the European Commission is about to propose a CO₂ infrastructure and market regulation in 2026, which is currently under consultation. Despite the topic’s complexity, it is vital that civil society organisations take this opportunity to make their voices heard. This brief provides a description of each part of the consultation, highlights what is at stake and offers recommendations. The goal is to give CSOs a tool to define their positions on the upcoming legislation to advocate for its climate integrity.
