Are you interested in climate and environmental policy and looking for valuable experience working with the EU? Bellona Europa’s office in Brussels offers an exciting opportunity for students who want insight into the EU’s environmental and climate policies through a trainee position. 

About the position: 

As a trainee at Bellona Europa, you will gain hands-on experience with political processes at the EU level and contribute to our work promoting sustainable solutions. Your tasks will include: 
• Monitoring and analysing political processes within the EU’s climate and environmental fields 
• Preparing reports, policy briefs, newsletters, and other communication materials 
• Attending meetings in EU institutions and relevant events, including taking meeting notes 
• Assisting with the planning and implementation of events at our Brussels office 
• Supporting Bellona’s expert team in ongoing projects 

Each trainee period will have a specific thematic focus, where you will work closely with one of our experts on a relevant topic. The focus area for this semester will include the carbon border adjustment mechanism (CBAM) and the decarbonisation of industrial emissions. 

Qualifications: 

• The trainee position must be part of a bachelor’s or master’s program 
• Interest in climate, energy, and environmental policy, particularly in an EU context 
• Strong written and oral skills in English (the working language in the office is English) 
• Ability to work in a structured, independent, and proactive manner 

Practical information: 

This is an unpaid position, and the trainee period must form part of your studies and qualify for support from Lånekassen and/or the Erasmus programme. Bellona covers travel expenses to and from Brussels at the start and end of the placement. You must find your own accommodation, but we can provide advice and guidance on this and other practical matters.

• Bistand i planlegging og gjennomføring av arrangementer ved vårt Brussel-kontor 

• Støtte til Bellonas ekspertteam i pågående prosjekter 

Hver trainee-periode vil ha et spesifikt faglig fokus, hvor du samarbeider tett med en av våre eksperter innen et aktuelt tema. Fokusområdet dette semesteret vil omfatte karbongrensetoll og avkarbonisering av industriutslipp.   

Kvalifikasjoner: 

• Traineestillingen må inngå som en del av et bachelor- eller masterprogram 

• Interesse for klima-, energi- og miljøpolitikk, særlig i en EU-kontekst 

• Gode skriftlige og muntlige ferdigheter i engelsk (arbeidsspråket på kontoret er engelsk) 

• Evne til å arbeide strukturert, selvstendig og med initiativ 

Praktisk informasjon: 

Dette er en ulønnet stilling, og det forutsettes at trainee-oppholdet inngår som en del av studiene og kvalifiserer for støtte fra Lånekassen og/eller Erasmus-programmet. Bellona dekker reiseutgifter til og fra Brussel ved oppstart og avslutning av oppholdet. Du må selv finne bolig, men vi vil kunne bistå med råd og veiledning om dette og andre praktiske spørsmål.
