As discussions on the next framework begin, Bellona has joined civil society and industry partners in calling for a post-2030 framework that is ambitious and binding and that puts renewable energy, energy efficiency and electrification at its core. In the face of record energy prices, accelerating climate impacts and deepening geopolitical uncertainty in Europe, the case for an ambitious, enforceable framework has never been stronger.
«Europe’s 2030 framework has shown that binding targets, coordinated action and clear direction deliver results. Now, we must go further. The post-2030 energy framework must set out a credible plan for reducing emissions by 90% by 2040. This plan must be ambitious and enforceable, and based on electrification, energy efficiency and renewable deployment to decarbonise industry and our economies.»
