Bellona Europa has joined a coalition of over 50 organisations spanning industry, civil society, and public buyers in calling on the European Commission to deliver an ambitious Public Procurement Act.
Public procurement represents a significant lever for driving demand for low-carbon, circular materials and services. Yet current EU rules remain focused on lowest-price awarding, falling short of Europe’s strategic climate and industrial objectives.
Together with co-signatories, Bellona is urging the Commission to require best-value assessment in public contracting, provide a clear and mandatory implementation toolbox, and empower local and regional authorities to act as launch customers for sustainable products and services.
