European ports have an important role to play as decarbonisation hubs. As logistical, industrial and infrastructure clusters, they can enable the mitigation potential of a wide range of sectors and be major catalysts for climate action by picking the right solutions for the energy transition.
Bellona Europa is strengthening its collaboration with ports in this regard by launching a new project: Ports2Decarb! Our aim is to assist in defining and amplifying the role of ports in delivering industrial decarbonisation solutions, primarily CCS. The project is designed to accelerate the transition towards achieving net zero emissions by capitalising on the strategic geographical positioning of ports to serve as essential hubs for CCS throughout Europe.
