Cities

Cities are major contributors to greenhouse gas emissions, and their impact on the climate crisis cannot be ignored.

Reducing carbon emissions in cities requires integrating environmentally friendly practices into climate policies and local city planning.

We work on this by advocating for lower carbon building practices and materials, promoting electric vehicles and public transportation, and impacting policy at the European and national levels.

In short:

  • Local decarbonisation efforts can set an example for national and international climate targets.

  • Waste incineration, construction sites, and transportation are major emitters that need to be the focus of local climate action.

Our work in promoting zero-emission construction sites and advocating for electric vehicle adoption has contributed to Norway becoming a leader in these areas. By shifting towards more sustainable practices such as electric transport, lower-carbon buildings, improved public transportation, and reducing dependency on fossil fuels, we can reduce the climate impact of cities and transport sectors.
